Chapter 4: How to Bring your Mood Board to Life
Define the Purpose of Your Mood Board
Like we talked about in the last chapter, its important to clarify why you created your mood board. Knowing and understanding the intention behind your board helps you create a clear goal and prioritize what really matters.
Create a Material and Product list
Once you've identified the visual themes in your mood board, it's time to bring them to reality. Start listing out the type of materials, finishes, color and products.
Break down the list into categories (paint colors, furniture, lighting, or decor) so you can have a clear checklist to follow when gathering materials.
This allows you to stay consistent and prevent chaos within the board.
Analyze Your Mood Board Elements
After beginning your mood board, spend some time analyzing the different elements. What stands out? Are there dominate colors? Do you have consistent martials and designs?
These observations help you decode the true intentions behind your board. This is especially helpful when making real life choices, such as what additional material you may need, degerming a consistent feeling and identify themes.
Stay Flexible
As much as your mood board sets the tone, it's important to stay adaptable through the process. There may be times when you are unable to find the perfect material, or maybe you are inspired by a new idea and that's okay!
Mood boards are guides not exact models. Allow the process to be fun, and trust that you will be able to bring your vision to life!
